On September 27, 2005, the American Kart Racing Association became a reality with the hopes and desire in mind to return Karting to a level of excellence. With this excitement at hand we have pushed forward with a plan to create a new and exciting organization that will help drive the Sport and Industry forward. Our goal is to create and establish an organization to manage, promote, and develop a healthy environment that effectively and proactively supports the Karting Industry. We embrace with a firm commitment to build an Organization that drives toward the betterment and furtherance of the Sport of Karting and the Karting Industry.

The American Kart Racing Association, Inc. (AKRA) was formed to assist in the promotion of speedway kart racing. Founded with a basic class structure, simplified rules package, and an economical race schedule, the American Speedway Championship Series appeals to the “new” racer as well as the karters who have supported the industry for many years.

Having 30 years of karting experience, owner Bill McCutcheon has taken a proactive, common sense approach to the industry with regard to rules & regulations, management of events, and assisting the karters with their racing program. Create an affordable, safe, consistent, fun environment for all participants.

Create a program to recognize and award all participants. (i.e. Points Program)

Take a proactive approach to the needs of the Karter, as well as, the Industry.

Create an environment that attracts new participants into the Sport/Industry.

Keep existing participants involved and active.

Create a family environment.

Get the local community involved in current activities (churches, schools, local organizations).

Work to institute a basic class structure based on ability, as well as, age and weight.

Create a set of rules and regulations that will incorporate existing technology and equipment.

Work towards stabilizing the engine, tires, bodywork and chassis program.

Encourage tracks and facilities to be actively involved (i.e. associate tracks).

Create and promote local, state, regional and national events.

Seek corporate support and involvement at all levels.

Work toward the promotion of events through all media avenues available.

Create an avenue for those who wish to pursue a career in Motorsports.
